Sires in the group

Sire (s field) of each ranked horse. In 5 gens counts the ranked horses that carry him anywhere in the pedigree, including those he sired. Click a row to list them, with the path to him (S = sire, D = dam, read from the ranked horse, so DS is the dam's sire).

Most frequent sires in 5 generations

Every male position in the pedigree, to the depth chosen: 1–3 generations (7 positions per horse) shows the stallions prominent now, whether or not they sired a ranked horse; 1–5 (31 positions) brings in the older foundation sires. Appearances counts repeats from linebreeding; Horses counts each ranked horse once. Sire side / Dam side: horses carrying him through the sire or through the dam (a linebred horse can count on both). G1–G5 show appearances by generation. Click a row to list the horses with each path in words, e.g. DS (broodmare sire), DDS (2nd dam's sire).

Sire lines (tail male)

Credits each stallion with every ranked horse descending from him in the direct male line within the generations chosen: 1 = his own get, 2 = get and grandget through his sons, up to 5 (sire's sire's sire's sire's sire, pedall field q1). A stallion and his sire can both appear, since the sire's line includes the son's. G1–G5 show the generation at which the line reaches each horse. In pedall, Index and Signal compare with all horses of this discipline in pedall.csv, so a line that is simply popular does not look strong: Index 1.0 = no more often than expected. Click a row to list the horses grouped by the son through whom the line runs.

Crosses in the group

Sire side × dam side of each ranked horse, for crosses found in the group. In pedall counts every horse of this discipline in pedall.csv with the same cross, ranked or not. Index compares how common the cross is in the ranked group with how common it is in pedall: 1.0 means no more often than expected, 3.0 means three times as often. With only a few horses an index moves a lot, so read it together with the counts. Click a row to list the horses.

Ranked group compared with the rest of pedall

For every stallion in the male positions of the 5-generation pedigree: the share of ranked horses that carry him against the share of the other horses of this discipline in pedall.csv. Difference is in percentage points. Signal shows whether the gap is larger than chance would explain for groups of these sizes (two-proportion test): strong at the 1% level, possible at the 5% level. Many stallions are tested at once, so expect roughly one in twenty to reach "possible" by chance alone; a stallion that keeps showing up over several years is the one to trust.

Tail-female lines

Follows each ranked horse's dam line: dam, 2nd dam, 3rd dam, 4th dam and 5th dam. A mare is treated as the same mare when her name and her sire agree, and her recorded dam is compared as a check. 5th dams have no sire or dam in pedall.csv, so a 5th dam (or any mare whose sire is not recorded) that matches only by name is marked check manually — confirm it on an extended pedigree. When two horses share a whole run of the line, only the closest shared mare is listed. Click a row to see each horse's line.
