What This Tool Does

Analyze breeding options for your mare based on proven crosses in your futurity/rodeo database. Generate 5-generation pedigree charts with linebreeding detection and dosage profiles.

Step 1: Enter Mare Pedigree

QHR Method (Recommended): Type the mare's registered name in the Fetch from QHR box and press Enter or click 🔍. The full 5-generation pedigree plus year of birth, sex, and colour are fetched automatically via qhr_proxy.php — no copy/paste required.

AllBreedPedigree Method: See "Using AllBreedPedigree" section below.

Manual Entry: Click "More options" to enter pedigree fields manually.

📄 Using AllBreedPedigree.com

AllBreedPedigree provides comprehensive pedigree data for many breeds. Follow these steps:

1. Open AllBreed: Click "Open AllBreed" button or go to allbreedpedigree.com
2. Search: Enter the horse's name and select the correct horse from results
3. Save the page: Press Ctrl+S (Windows) or Cmd+S (Mac)
   • Save as type: "Webpage, HTML Only" (not "Complete")
   • Save to your Documents or Downloads folder
4. Wait for download: IMPORTANT! The file download can take several seconds. Wait until your browser shows the download is complete before closing the page or navigating away.
5. Upload: Click "More options" then "Upload AllBreed HTML" to load your saved file

⚠️ Tip: If parsing fails or shows wrong ancestors, the file download may not have completed. Try saving again and wait for the download to fully finish before leaving the page.

Step 2: Pedigree Analysis (Optional)

Click the "📊 Pedigree Analysis of [mare name]" button to view comprehensive analysis including:

• Dosage profile (Speed/Classic/Cowhorse)
• Linebreeding detection with color coding
• Discipline tendency - what disciplines descendants excel in
• Half-siblings - horses sharing the same sire or dam
• Female tail line analysis - tracing maternal ancestry
• 🏆 Winning Descendants by Ancestor (Gen 1-4) - shows all horses in your database that descend from each ancestor, grouped by discipline. Click "Show Details" to expand the full breakdown.
• 4-generation pedigree chart

You can save the analysis as a text report (includes all sections) or close and return to continue breeding analysis.

Skip this step if you just want to generate a hypothetical foal pedigree.

Clear Button

Use the Clear button next to "Parse Pedigree" to clear the paste box AND all pedigree fields before entering a new horse. You can also click in the paste box to auto-select all text, then paste to replace.

Step 3: Analyze Breeding Options (Optional)

Select a target discipline and click Analyze to see recommended stallion lines and proven nicks based on your mare's bloodlines.

Step 4: Enter Stallion & Generate Chart

Pick from List: Type to search stallions, press Enter or click to select.

QHR Method: Same as mare — type the stallion's registered name and press Enter or 🔍 to fetch from QHR automatically.

Click Generate Pedigree Chart to see the hypothetical foal's 5-gen pedigree with linebreeding and dosage profile.

Dosage Profile

Shows weighted scores for Speed, Classic, and Cowhorse traits based on ancestors in dosage.csv.

Weighting: Parents x16, Grandparents x8, Great-grandparents x4, Gen4 x2, Gen5 x1

Keyboard Shortcuts

Ctrl+Shift+L: Look up selected horse name on AllBreedPedigree.com

Ctrl+Shift+D: Find all descendants of selected horse in database

Required Files

pedandfut.csv: Your horse database with pedigrees (required)

stallion.csv: List of stallions for the pick list (optional)

dosage.csv: Dosage classifications (name, indic columns where indic = s/m/c for Speed/Classic/Cowhorse)

ANCESTORS.CSV: Lookup table for auto-filling Gen 5 (columns: ID, NAME, SIREID, DAMID). When loaded, Gen 5 is automatically filled from Gen 4 ancestors after parsing QHR pedigrees.

⚡ Auto-Load: When hosted on a web server, pedandfut.csv, stallion.csv, dosage.csv, and ANCESTORS.CSV will load automatically if present in the same folder.
