What This Program Does
Identifies successful sire x dam breeding combinations ("nicks"). Shows which stallion/mare pairings consistently produce winners.
How to Use
- Loading Data: Program auto-loads arhfa_results.csv.
- Filter by Sire: Enter part of a stallion name to see crosses with that sire.
- Filter by Dam: Enter part of a dam name to see crosses with that dam line.
- Min Starters: Set minimum (default 2) to filter small sample sizes.
- Sort Options: Choose how to sort results (starters, %, winners, earnings).
- Click Cross: Click any cross to see all offspring from that pairing.
Understanding the Results
Cross: Sire x Dam combination (e.g., "METALLIC CAT x DUAL PEP")
Starters: Number of unique horses from this cross that competed
Winners: Number that had at least one payout > $0
Success %: (Winners ÷ Starters) × 100
Total Earnings: Sum of all payouts for this cross
Avg per Starter: Total Earnings ÷ Starters
What Makes a Good Nick?
- 60%+ success: Excellent nick - strong genetic compatibility
- 50-60% success: Very good nick
- 40-50% success: Good nick
- Sample size matters: 5+ crosses more reliable than 2

8 starters, 6 winners (75% success)

Practical Application
Scenario: You own a mare by METALLIC CAT
- Enter "METALLIC CAT" in Dam filter
- See which stallions work best with METALLIC CAT mares
- Sort by Success % to find hot crosses
- Check sample size (need 3-5+ for reliability)
- Click cross to verify winners aren't just one exceptional horse
