Selecting the 'Pedigree Search' option from the sidebar menu on
the Equine Bloodlines page will take you to the Rodeo Horse Pedigree
page as shown above.
It is not necessary to login to use the site.
The Rodeo Horse Pedigree site facilitates an in-depth search of the bloodlines of the top horses in competition.
In any of the the pedigrees that are
generated in any of the searches, Thoroughbred anscestors will be highlighted in red and
followed by the breed designation 'xx'
All duplicate names in the 4 generation pedigree will be shown in italics.
All duplicate names in the extended pedigree will be highlighted in specific colours.
From the introductory page select the three bar icon in the upper left corner to toggle the side bar on and off.
On the Rodeo Horse Pedigree Site the left sidebar menu offers the following choices.
Search
: Enter the common name or the registered name of a competition
horse. If the exact name or a similar name is found it will
appear in a drop down box. If there is no dropdown box a horse with
that spelling does not exist in the database.
Select the name in the dropbox and a Detail page will be displayed for the
selected horse.
If you enter the name of an ancestor in the pedigree of a
competition horse, the Detail page for that ancestor will be displayed.
Extended Pedigree: will generate a 6 generation pedigree, where possible, of the currently displayed horse.
Descendants: If you have entered the name of a breeding horse, when the Detail page is showing, press Descendants.
This will generate a list of all the horses in whose pedigree that particular stallion or mare appears.
Choosing any horse from this list will display a Detail page for
the horse with the option of an extended pedigree and a descendant list
as above.
This feature makes your research into what crosses work with a particular horse a possibility.
By selecting any horse in the pedigree and clicking on the name it
again will generate a list of decendants of the selected name as above.
Frequency Analysis: While showing the Detail page for a breeding animal, selecting the
Frequency Analysis choice will list the contribution this horse has
made to competition horse pedigrees.
The report generated indicates:
how many horses from each discipline were evaluated
how many times the horse being evaluated appears in
horses in each discipline and a percentage to indicate which of the
events the
ancestor was most prolific
if the presence of the evaluated horse is through sons or daughters
Of course if you do a Frequency Analysis of a competition horse the
results will be 0 in all cases unless the horse is the sire or dam of a
show horse.
Returning to the Home screen another search is available.
Choosing 'Performance Horse Menu' a list of all the competition horses in the database will be generated.
Displayed are the horses's show names, registered names, the event in
which the horse competed, the rider and the sire and dam that are in the system.
This list can be limited to any individual discipline by selecting 'Show all Event Types' and then picking an event.
The 'Wild Card' option can generate a search based on partial entry of
letters of any names found in any of the displayed fields.
Hint: you can enter a rider's name in this 'Wild Card' box to generate a list horses ridden by a particular rider.
This screen can be scrolled or searched in the wildcard search and
clicking on the name in the resulting list will display detailed
information for the selected horse.
Again, as above, ou can click on any name in the pedigree to determine what other
horse's pedigree the selected name is also present. A list is generated to show these
horses. This list can also be obtained by selecting 'Descendants ' from
the sidebar menu.
Remember if 'Descendants' is selected for a horse that is is
only a competion horse and not a breeding animal, no descendants will be
listed.
If the selected horses does have descendents, selecting 'Frequency
Analysis' from the sidebar menu will show a detailed breakdown of the
influence of the breeding animal in the pedigrees of related horses present in the
database.
On any screen, the forward and back arrow keys will scroll through the previous screens.
On any screen clicking on the 3 bar button in the left hand corner of the screen will activate or hide the side bar menu.
Two other lists are avaialable from the sidebar menu 'Sires of Major Winners' and Broodmare Sires of Major Winners'. These
lists can be scrolled or searched the same as the previously described
lists and will give an indication of what sires and broodmare
sires are currently successful and a link to their offspring
